ENVIRONMENT RHYMES

THE ARTIC
Oh, I wish that I could go to a land of ice and snow.
To a place, where penguins play, and where seals and bears, fish all day.
I’d dress up warm, then go outside, and on the ice, I’d slip and slide.
Oh, the artic is where I want to go, because I love the ice and snow.

THE PRAIRIE
Oh, I wish that I could go, to the land of Buffalo.
I’d see the rolling hills of grass and wave at butterflies, as they pass.
I’d spend all day out in the sun and pick wild flowers one-by-one.
Oh, there is no place I’d rather be, than out upon the lone prairie!

THE MOUNTAINS

Oh, I wish that I could go, hiking with my friends real slow,
Up a winding trail to see, birds, bears and tall pine trees.
I’d wear my hiking boots and pack, my camping gear upon by back.
Oh, the mountains are where I want to go, because I love high peaks of snow!
                                                                                                Jean Warren

THE WETLANDS
Oh, I wish that I could go, to a place where cattails grow.
To a place with frogs and flies, turtles, beavers and butterflies.
I’d wear my boots and take a net, to scoop up critters small and wet.
Oh, the wetlands are where I want to go, to fill a jar with wet tadpoles!
                                                                                                Jean Warren

THE GARDEN

Oh, I wish that I could go, to a place where I could hoe.
To a place where I could sow, tiny seeds all in a row.
I’d water all my plants each day, and work to deep the weeds away.
Oh, a garden is where I want to go, because I love to make things grow!
                                                                                                Jean Warren

THE BEACH
Oh, I wish that I could go, to a place where trade winds blow.
Where the waves roll in and out, and lovely starfish, lie about.
I’d bring my shovel and my pail, I’d sift the sand and look for whales.
Oh, the beach is where I want to go because I love to swim and row!
                                                                                                Jean

THE JUNGLE

Oh, I wish that I could go, to a place where tall ferns grow.
Where monkeys swing from tree to tree, and elephants roam peacefully.
Where colorful birds fill the air and flowers grow every- where.
Oh, the jungle is where I want to be, because the animals all roam free!
                                                                                                Jean Warren

THE DESERT
Oh, I wish that I could go to a place where things move slow.
To a place, filled with sun and sand, where snakes and lizards roam the land.
I’d be sure to take with me; a hat, some water and a sturdy donkey.
Oh, the desert is where I want to go, because I like to take things slow!
                                                                                                Jean Warren

THE MEADOW

Oh, I wish that I could go, to a sunny green meadow.
Where cows and sheep graze all day, where children love to come to play
I’d take my shoes off, just for fun, then over the clover I would run.
Oh, the meadow is where I wish to go, to romp like lambs, to and fro!
                                                                                                Jean Warren

THE BACKYARD
Oh, I wish that I could go, behind my house to watch the show.
To watch the leaves come tumbling down, as they cover up the ground.
My pets just love to run and play and toss the leaves around all day.
Oh, my backyard is where I wish to go, especially, when the leaves all blow!
                                                                                                Jean Warren

THE FARM

Oh, I wish that I could go, out where all the cornfields grow.
Out where horses munch on hay, and pigs roll in the mud all day.
I’d feed the chicks and gather the eggs, then waddle around with turkey legs.
Oh, the farm is where I wish to go, because I love to see things grow!
                                                                                                Jean Warren

THE FOREST
Oh, I wish that I could go, out to where the fir trees grow.
I’d search and search for a special tree, that I could take back home with me.
The owls, porcupine, fox and deer, would all come out when I came near.
Oh the forest is where I wish to be, because it’s filled with tall green trees!
