4TH OF JULY SONGS

SPARKLER SONG
Tune:  “If You’re Happy and You Know It”

Wave your sparkler way up high, way up high.
Wave your sparkler way up high, way up high.
Wave your sparkler way up high,
Like fireworks in the sky.
Wave your sparkler way up high, way up high.
                               Jean Warren

FLAGS ARE FLYING
Tune:  “Frere Jacques”

Flags are flying, flags are flying
Oh, so high; oh, so high.
Flying for our country,
Red and white and blue,
Flying high, in the sky.
                      Liz Ryerson

IF YOU HAVE A LITTLE FLAG
Tune: "If You're Happy and You Know It"

If you have a little flag, hold it high.
If you have a little flag, hold it high.
If you hold it way up high, you can wave it in the sky.
If you have a little flag, hold it high.

If you have a roman candle, hold it high.
If you have a roman candle, hold it high.
If you hold it way up high, you can shoot it in the sky.
If you have a roman candle, hold it high.

If you have a little sparkler, hold it high.
If you have a little sparkler, hold it high.
If you hold it way up high, you can light up the night sky.
If you have a little sparkler, hold it high.

SPARKLERS, SPARKLERS

Tune: "The ABC Song"

Sparklers, sparklers, everyone
Grab your sparklers,
Let's have fun! First we'll raise them way up high.
So they brighten up the sky.
Then we'll twirl them 'round and 'round
And watch their lights fall to the ground.
Jean Warren

FOURTH DAY OF JULY
Tune: "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star"

Today is special, do you know why?
It's the 4th day of July.
See the flags passing by.
See the fireworks in the sky.
It's a special celebration.
It's the birthday of our nation.

MY FIRECRACKER (An Action Poem)

Tune: "Yankee Doodle"

Have your child make a firecracker using a toilet tissue tube.
Then have him tape on some tissue paper strips to the end of a straw and place the straw into the tube.

I have a firecracker (Child holds out paper firecracker)
It may explode soon. (One had on the tube and one hand on the bottom of the straw)
Look! There it goes (Child pushes the straw sparkler out the top of the tube.)
With a big CABOOM! (Child makes a big noise)

YANKEE DOODLE CELEBRATION
Tune: "Yankee Doodle"

Yankee Doodle went to town
For the celebration.
He was there to honor
The forming of our nation.

Yankee Doodle, keep it up
Yankee Doodle Dandy.
Sing and dance with all your friends,
But keep your musket handy.
