I opened the box
And to my surprise
A set of fine dishes
Were nestled inside.

Four China plates
Four cups for tea
A big teapot
Is what I could see.

I set out the dishes
And brewed up the tea,
Seated my guests
Then seated me.

I passed 'round some cake
To everyone,
Then poured out the tea.
Oh what fun!

We had a grand party
Then everyone said,
"Thank you so much",
Then went home to bed.

I washed up the dishes
And put them away.
What a nice present,
What a nice day!
