ANIMAL SONGS & RHYMES

I’M A LITTLE CHICK
Tune:  “I’m A Little Teapot”

I’m a little chick.
Yellow and soft.
I was born
In a hay loft.

I play all day
And cheep, cheep, cheep.
Then back to the barn
I go to sleep!

ANIMAL SOUNDS
Tune:  “The Farmer In The Dell”

The ducks say, quack, quack.
The ducks say, quack, quack.
Heigh-ho, the Derry-oh,
The ducks say quack, quack!

The cows say, moo, moo.
The cows say, moo, moo.
Heigh-ho, the Derry-oh,
The cows say, moo, moo!

I’M A LITTLE KITTEN

Tune”  “I’m A Little Teapot”

I’m a little kitten,
Soft and small.
I like to climb
Or chase my ball.

If you pick me up
And rub my fur.
You can hear me
Purr and purr!

I HAVE A LITTLE KITTY

I have a little kitty,
That’s so soft and pretty.
I think I hear her coming now.
I can hear her soft meow,
Meow, meow, meow, meow.

HOW MUCH IS THAT KITTY?
Tune:  “Doggy In The Window”

How much is that kitty in the window?
The one with the long white tail.
How much is that kitty in the window?
I do hope that kitty’s for sale.

PUSSY CAT

Pussy cat, pussy cat,
Where have you been?
I’ve been to London
To visit the Queen.

Pussy cat, pussy cat
What did you see?
I saw a monkey
Up in a tree.

Pussy cat, pussy cat
What did you do?
I bought a ticket
And went in the zoo!

TOMMY HAD A LITTLE DOG
Tune:  “Mary Had A Little Lamb”

Tommy had a little dog, little dog, little dog.
Tommy had a little dog, who was white as snow.

Everywhere that Tommy went, Tommy went, Tommy went,
Everywhere that Tommy went, the dog was sure to go.

He followed him to school one day, school one day, school one day,
He followed him to school one day, which was against the rule.
The puppy thought that it was fun, it was fun, it was fun.
The puppy thought that it was fun, to be at Tommy’s school.

The puppy got to stay that day, stay that day, stay that day.
It was “Pet’s At School Day”, so everything was cool!

OVER IN THE BARNYARD
Have your children pretend to be ducks as they stand in a row, quacking while the farmer (you) comes to feed them.  Pass out small bags of cereal for their snack.  Everyone sings the following to the tune of “Down By The Station”.

            Over in the barnyard,
            Early in the morning,
            See the little ducks,
            Standing in a row.

            See the busy farmer
            Giving them their breakfast,
            Quack, quack, quack, quack,
            Off they go!

WHEN A YELLOW DUCK
When a yellow duck walks down the street,
He likes to quack and waddle his feet.
If he finds a pond, he jumps right in
And off he goes, for a little swim!

NINE LITTLE FISH
Tune:  “Ten Little Indians”

One little, two little, three little fish,
Four little, five little, six little fish,
Seven little, eight little, nine little fish
Swimming in the sea.
