SUMMER SONGS & RHYMES

SEE THE LITTLE SAILORS
See the little sailors rowing out to sea.
Rowing, rowing, one, two, three.
                                    Jean Warren
(Have children pretend to row three times.)

GREAT BIG GIANTS
Great big giants stomping all around.
Stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, on the ground.
                                    Jean Warren
(Have children stomp around as you recite this poem.)

CATERPILLER, CATERPILLER
Caterpillar, caterpillar, crawling on a leaf.
Caterpillar, caterpillar, with tiny feet.
Caterpillar, caterpillar, time to sleep.
                                    Jean Warren
(Have children crawl around then curl up and pretend to sleep.)

BRIGHT SUN
Tune:  “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”

Bright sun shining down.  ( Spread fingers and move hands down slowly.)
Shining on the ground.
What a lovely face you have.  (Make a large circle in front of face with arms.)
Yellow, big and round.
                                    Susan A. Miller

SUMMER RAIN
Tune:  “Frere Jacques”
I feel rain, I feel rain.
Do you, too?  Do you, too?
Pitter-patter raindrops, pitter-patter raindrops
I’m wet through.  So are you!
                        Adapted Traditional

HERE IS MY BUCKET
Here is my bucket,
I carry about.
I fill it up,
Then empty it out.
            Elizabeth McKinnon

SAND EVERYWHERE
Sand on the beach.
Sand on the doll
Sand on the pail.
Sand on the ball.

Sand on the blanket.
Sand on the bear.
Sand on the shovel.
Sand everywhere!
                        Jean Warren
