PLAYFUL PUPPIES

PAINTING PUPPIES
Give your child a large cutout of a dog shape.
Set out appropriate colored paints and brushes.
Let child paint her puppy, however she chooses.
Puppies can be a solid color, spotted or whatever.

PUPPY PUPPETS
First take a piece of construction paper and cut out a 6” square.
Next, fold the square into a triangle and cut it along the fold.
Take one of the triangles and point the large corner down.
Now fold down the other two ends to resemble dog ears.
Draw a dog face in the center of the paper.
Have your child glue the dog head to a large craft stick for a puppet.
Let your child use his dog puppet when singing about dogs.

FIVE LITTLE PUPPIES
Have child point to different fingers on one hand as you recite the following rhyme.
This little puppy said, “Let’s go out to play.”
This little puppy said, “Let’s run away.”
This little puppy said, “Let’s stay out till dark.”
This little puppy said, “Let’s bark, bark, bark.”
This little puppy said, “I think it would be fun to go straight home.
Let’s run, run, run!”

PUPPY SONGS

TOMMY HAD A LITTLE DOG
Tune: “Mary Had a Little Lamb”

Tommy had a little dog, little dog, little dog.
Tommy had a little dog, who was white as snow.

Everywhere that Tommy went, Tommy went, Tommy went,
Everywhere that Tommy went, the dog was sure to go.

He followed him to school one day, school one day, school one day,
He followed him to school one day, which was against the rule.

The puppy thought that it was fun, it was fun, it was fun,
The puppy thought that it was fun, to be at Tommy’s school.

The puppy got to stay that day, stay that day, stay that day.
It was “Pet’s at School Day”, so everything was cool!

HIDE THE BONE
Get a rubber dog bone and hide it somewhere in a room.  Hide the bone with part of it sticking out.
Take turns with your child, letting him hide the bone some times.
Variation:  Older children can play “Hot and Cold”.  Hide the bone out of site. Say “hot” when the child is walking in the direction of the bone.  Say “cold” when the child is going in the wrong direction”.

MAKE A DOG HOUSE
You can make a dog house from a large cardboard box for your child.
Or you can make a dog house under a table by draping blankets over the top of the table.

PUPPY TREATS
Dog bone shaped cookies
Dry cereal (for dog food)

PUPPY TRICKS
Teach your puppy (child) new tricks.  Such as;
Sit up and bark
Roll over

PUPPY TAILS

Make a puppy tail for your child when he wants to play puppy.
Cut some furry material into 7” – 12” lengths.
Pin one on the back of your child’s clothing, at the waist.
